Gresik, Mitcho Highlight Fifty-Four WP Selections to NJAC All-Academic Teams

Seniors Ryan Gresik and Annalis Mitcho were named to the 2013-14 NJAC All-Academic First Team.
PITMAN, N.J. – William Paterson football senior quarterback Ryan Gresik (Newton, N.J./Newton) and field hockey senior midfielder Annalis Mitcho (Glassboro, N.J./Gloucester County Institute of Technology) garnered spots on the 2013-14 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Academic First Team, leading a list of 54 WP honorees.

Softball senior shortstop Katelyn Miele (Flanders, N.J./Pope John XXIII) and men's soccer senior midfielder Karl Schroeder (Long Valley, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's) were second-team selections, while 50 other Pioneers received honorable-mention laurels.
 
Gresik was a member of the 2013 All-NJAC First Team Offense after finishing 214-for-361 for 2,546 yards and 17 touchdowns under center, starting all 10 games. Named the NJAC Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 8, Sept. 29) and 2013 USA Football Network Division III Preseason All-America Honorable Mention, he captured a spot on the Capital One/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 2 Team and the 2012 All-NJAC Honorable Mention. Gresik owns the WP career completions (580), attempts (992), passing yardage (6,615) and touchdown passes (40) records, as well as the single-season passing yardage top mark (2,546) and single-game passing yardage record (519, vs. Morrisville, Oct. 5), and tied the single-game touchdown passes mark (five, vs. Morrisville, Oct. 5). Named to the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 NJAC All-Academic Honorable Mentions, he was a Fall 2009, Spring 2010, Fall 2010, Spring 2011, Fall 2011, Fall 2012, Spring 2013 and Fall 2013 Dean's List student who completed a bachelor's in history. Gresik also was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the national student-athlete honor society.
 
Mitcho was named to the 2013 All-NJAC First Team after starting all 20 games, posting three assists and three defensive saves. A Chi Alpha Sigma inductee, she was a member of the 2012 and 2013 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squads and the 2011-12 and 2012-13 NJAC All-Academic Honorable Mentions. Mitcho was a Spring 2012, Fall 2012, Spring 2013, Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 Dean's List student, and is currently completing a double major in psychology and women's and gender studies.

Seniors Katelyn Miele and Karl Schroeder were second-team honorees.

Miele was a four-time all-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) selection (2014, 2013 All-First Teams; 2012, 2011 All-Second Teams) and a three-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) all-region pick (2014, 2013 All-First Teams, 2012 All-Second Team) during her career. She led WP this spring with a .403 average (second in league), .442 on-base percentage, 54 hits, 29 RBI and six triples (first in conference, 16th nationally), adding 26 runs scored and a .560 slugging percentage while starting all 42 games. A member of the Honors College and a 2012-13 NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete, Miele garnered spots on the 2011-12 NJAC All-Academic Team Honorable Mention and 2012-13 NJAC All-Academic Second Team. A Fall 2010 and Spring 2013 Dean's List student, she completed a bachelor's in biology and currently is pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy at Rutgers.
 
Schroeder started 20 of 21 matches during the 2013 campaign, posting three assists. A member of the Endicott Gull Invitational All-Tournament Team (Aug. 30-31), he was a Spring 2013 and Spring 2014 Dean's List student as a psychology major.
 
To be eligible for the NJAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior who competed in a conference-sponsored sport during the last year and achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.20. The 54 selections marked a more than 30 percent increase from the 41 Pioneers honored at the end of the 2012-13 academic year.
