Jeff Albies Field Dedication
WAYNE, N.J. (JULY 15, 2010) – William Paterson will honor its legendary former head baseball coach, Jeff Albies, when the University renames its baseball facility in his honor at a ceremony to be held Sunday, Oct. 3.  The complex, currently known as Pioneer Baseball Park, will be dedicated as Jeff Albies Field at 12:00 p.m. at the facility, prior to the Pioneers’ annual Alumni Game on Homecoming Weekend.

WAYNE, N.J. (JULY 7, 2010) - William Paterson student-athletes Dan Jones (Riverhead, N.Y./Riverhead) and Abdoulaye Ouedraogo (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) were selected as Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports-Scholars by Diverse Issues in Higher Education Magazine.

WAYNE, N.J. - William Paterson University linebacker Jim Hamill (Stanhope, N.J./Lenape Valley Regional) has been named to the Division III Senior Classic Preseason All-America North Defense First Team, the group announced July 1.

An honorable-mention all-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) selection last fall, Hamill led William Paterson and ranked second in the NJAC with 10.5 tackles per game.

WAYNE, N.J. -- The William Paterson baseball program will conduct its 15th-annual golf outing Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at Wild Turkey Golf Course in Hamburg, N.J. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Cost for individual golfers is $160, while the rate for foursomes is $640. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.

WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson University left-handed pitcher Brett Carroll (River Edge, N.J./River Dell Regional) was taken by the Minnesota Twins in the 42nd round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft held June 9.

As a junior this spring, his first as a Pioneer, Carroll paced the William Paterson pitching staff with a 4-3 record and a 3.04 earned-run average.

EASTON, PA. – William Paterson assistant coaches Chadd Braine and Erik Scott joined nearly 1,700 high school football players at the seventh-annual Lauren’s First and Goal Football Camp at Lafayette College on Sunday, June 6.  More than $67,000 was collected for Lauren’s First and Goal Foundation for pediatric brain tumor research, cancer services and family support.

PRINCETON, N.J. – Former William Paterson men’s basketball standout Abdoulaye Ouedraogo (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) was honored with the New Jersey Athletic Conference’s top individual accolade when he was presented with the Male Athlete of the Year award June 6.

A senior this past winter, Ouedraogo was a 2009-10 second-team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) all-American, the NJAC Player and Defensive Player of the Year, and a member of the NABC All-Atlantic Region First Team, All-Metropolitan Basketball Coaches Association First Team, All-NJAC First Team, D3hoops.com All-Atlantic Region Second Team and ECAC All-Metro Region First Team.

CAPE COD, MASS. – William Paterson senior designated hitter Mike Guadango (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) earned a spot on the ECAC All-Metro Region First Team, the group announced June 3.

A two-time all-American and a four-time first-team all-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) pick, Guadango led the Pioneers with eight home runs, a .494 on-base percentage and a .643 slugging percentage this spring.
