WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson sophomore outfielder
A.J. Flores (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) earned a selection to the 2012 Capital One/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Baseball Academic All-District 2 Team, the group announced May 6.
Flores started in 38 of the Pioneers' 42 games this season, registering a .293 batting average, seven doubles, one triple, 22 RBI, 47 runs scored, 16 stolen bases and a .371 on-base percentage. He ranked third in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) and 28th in Division III in runs scored, and tied for sixth in the NJAC in steals.
A Fall 2010, Spring 2011 and Fall 2011 Dean's List student, Flores has a 3.962 grade point average while majoring in history (secondary education).
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility. In the cases of transfers, graduate students and two-year college graduates, the student-athlete must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution in order to be eligible.
