INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – No. 8/11 William Paterson (25-2, 12-1 NJAC) will play Salve Regina (19-9, 13-5 CCC) in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament Friday, March 2, at 5:30 p.m. at King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The winner will advance to the second round Saturday, March 3, at 5:30 p.m. in Wilkes-Barre, and will face the winner of the King's (22-5, 13-1 Freedom) vs. Oneonta State (19-8, 14-4 SUNYAC) first-round contest to be played March 2.

Brave New Radio, 88.7 FM, will broadcast the game over the air and online. All WP students with valid ID will be admitted for free, courtesy of Student Development, Administration and Finance, Residence Life and Institutional Advancement.
Ticket prices are $6.00 general admission, $3.00 for students, senior citizens and children. The doors to the facility will open 60 minutes prior to tip-off on each day.
The Pioneers are making their fifth trip to the NCAA Tournament in the last six years after a 79-69 victory at No. 23/24 Kean (22-5) Feb. 24 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament championship game. William Paterson is eighth in the Feb. 28 USA Today/ESPN/Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Poll and 11th in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll released Feb. 21.
The Pioneers are making their 10th NCAA Tournament appearance overall (1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012), all under the direction of 19th-year head coach and 2012 NJAC Coach of the Year
Erin Monahan, and have earned an automatic bid for the third time in program history (1993, 2011, 2012). William Paterson won the NJAC's North Division crown for the fifth time since the league split into divisions six years ago with a 12-1 regular-season record.

April Smith (Barnegat, N.J./Southern Regional) is first in the conference in rebounding (12.4 rpg, 14th in Division III) and field-goal percentage (.591, third nationally) and second in scoring (21.4 ppg, sixth nationally). The 2012 NJAC Player of the Year, she leads Division III with 22 double-doubles. BriAnna Lucas (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham) is first in the conference in free-throw percentage (.873, 12th in Division III), tied for fourth in steals (2.7 spg), fifth in scoring (14.8 ppg) and eighth in assists (3.1 apg). Floriana Borova (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) has posted 12.8 tallies per contest, adding 4.0 assists per game (third in league). Sophomore 5-11 forward
Dana Jeter (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) is chipping in 8.2 points and 6.9 boards per game, and leads the NJAC in assist/turnover ratio (1.4), and junior 5-6 guard
Lindsey Callander (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) is averaging 6.1 tallies per contest while shooting .391 from three-point range.
William Paterson returned five starters and 11 letterwinners from a 2010-11 team that was 26-4 overall and 11-2 in the conference, winning the NJAC Tournament title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen.
In addition to the Pioneer women, the William Paterson men also will participate in the NCAA Tournament, as No. 13 WP (24-3, 11-2 NJAC) won the NJAC Tournament title with a 67-63 victory at Richard Stockton Feb. 25. William Paterson will host the first two rounds of the men's tournament, taking on Becker in the opening contest Friday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. As an even-numbered year, when both teams from a single school are deemed worthy of hosting NCAA Tournament contests, the men have the priority for the first/second rounds.
