Prior to William Paterson: Was a three-year letterwinner in football at East Side H.S., and his senior year at Newark Collegiate Academy … A member of the first winning season in NCA history, going 7-3 … Compiled 63 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, seven forced fumbles, six sacks and one pass deflection as a senior to finish as the school’s all-time single-season forced fumbles and sacks leader … Lettered at East Side from his freshman to junior years, also competing in track and field and basketball … Played on both sides of the ball as a junior, logging 30 tackles, two forced fumbles, one sack, 300 rushing yards and 30 receiving yards … Made 15 tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks as a sophomore.
