Tennis Loses Tight 5-4 Match in Fall Finale

Pioneers Drop Contest at Richard Stockton

Junior Samantha Miller was an 8-4 winner at first doubles and a 6-1, 6-1 victor at second singles at Richard Stockton.

GALLOWAY, N.J. – The William Paterson tennis team (7-3, 3-3 NJAC) finished its 2012 fall schedule with a hard-fought 5-4 loss at Richard Stockton (9-1, 5-1 NJAC) Oct. 13.

Senior Christina Puleo (Leonia, N.J./Leonia) and junior Samantha Miller (West Keansburg, N.J./Raritan) defeated Krystle Bendijo and Laura Church at first doubles, 8-4, while sophomore Jessica Daniels (Edison, N.J./Edison) and junior Mary Skretkowicz (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) earned a 9-8 win against Scout Bauer and Sam Koropchak at third doubles.

Puleo upended Bendijo at first singles, 6-2, 6-1, and Miller was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at second singles against Koropchak.

At 7-3 overall, the Pioneers posted their best fall record since reinstating the sport in 2004 (fall 2011, 6-3).
