Sophomore Edward Zappile finished second in the 500 (5:14.05) and 1,000 (10:44.98) frees.
MAHWAH, N.J. – The William Paterson men’s swimming and diving team (7-4, 0-3 NJAC) lost to host Ramapo (7-2, 2-2 NJAC), 179-83, on Feb. 2.

Senior Voyta Karas (Brno, Czech Republic) won the 200 free (1:49.74) and touched second in the 50 free (23.12). Other second-place finishes were turned in by sophomore Edward Zappile (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) in the 500 (5:14.05) and 1,000 (10:44.98) frees, freshman Tyler Grady (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) in the 100 back (59.15), senior Kirk Smith (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) in the 100 breast (1:05.44), and sophomore Jeremy Lim (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) in the 200 fly (2:14.17).

William Paterson will compete at Montclair State Saturday, Feb. 6, at 1:00 p.m.
