Jeff Albies Field Dedication
WAYNE, N.J. (JULY 15, 2010) – William Paterson will honor its legendary former head baseball coach, Jeff Albies, when the University renames its baseball facility in his honor at a ceremony to be held Sunday, Oct. 3.  The complex, currently known as Pioneer Baseball Park, will be dedicated as Jeff Albies Field at 12:00 p.m. at the facility, prior to the Pioneers’ annual Alumni Game on Homecoming Weekend.

WAYNE, N.J. -- The William Paterson baseball program will conduct its 15th-annual golf outing Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at Wild Turkey Golf Course in Hamburg, N.J. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Cost for individual golfers is $160, while the rate for foursomes is $640. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.

WAYNE, N.J. - William Paterson University left-handed pitcher Brett Carroll (River Edge, N.J./River Dell Regional) was taken by the Minnesota Twins in the 42nd round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft held June 9.

As a junior this spring, his first as a Pioneer, Carroll paced the William Paterson pitching staff with a 4-3 record and a 3.04 earned-run average.

CAPE COD, MASS. - William Paterson senior designated hitter Mike Guadango (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) earned a spot on the ECAC All-Metro Region First Team, the group announced June 3.

A two-time all-American and a four-time first-team all-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) pick, Guadango led the Pioneers with eight home runs, a .494 on-base percentage and a .643 slugging percentage this spring.

WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson senior designated hitter Mike Guadango (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) received his fourth career all-region accolade when he was selected to the 2010 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Mid-Atlantic Region All-Third Team announced May 24.

WAYNE, N.J. – Four members of the William Paterson baseball team earned spots on the 2010 New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA) Division II/III All-State Teams released May 18. Senior designated hitter Mike Guadango (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands)
and junior left-handed pitcher Brett Carroll (River Edge, N.J./River Dell Regional) were second-team honorees, sophomore outfielder Jack Montanile (Weehawken, N.J./Hudson Catholic) was named to the All-Third Team, and right-handed pitcher Jacob Baron (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) was a member of the All-Rookie Team.

UNION, N.J. – William Paterson (16-21-1, 6-12 NJAC) saw its season come to an end with 17-9 and 10-4 losses at No. 17 Kean (28-10, 13-5 NJAC) in the baseball regular-season finale for both schools May 1.

GAME ONE
The Cougars jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings and cruised to a 17-9 opening victory.

A bases-loaded walk, a Matt Norton (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) RBI-single and a run-scoring grounder allowed the Pioneers to cross the plate three times in the fourth.
